Ban on Open Fires Lifted

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

A ban on open fires in Nova Scotia has been lifted by Natural Resources Minister Ernie Fage.

"Rain throughout the province over the past couple of days has reduced the forest fire hazard to low so the ban is no longer needed," said Mr. Fage. "I want to thank all Nova Scotians and visitors for using care this summer, and firefighters for all their efforts."

People are still urged to be cautious and are reminded that permits are needed when burning brush, grass or for agricultural purposes.

The ban was imposed June 24 because of extremely dry weather.
