Justice

A community committee has been established to assist the province in keeping residents informed about construction of a new forensic and correctional facility in Dartmouth.

The seven-member Community Liaison Committee will provide a two- way communications bridge between the local community and Nova Scotia government on the new Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and Correctional Facility in the Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth.

The committee will assist government in ensuring that the community is informed on all aspects of the project development and that community issues and concerns are appropriately addressed. It will also advise government on how to handle the communications and information process so that these objectives are met.

The members of the Community Liaison Committee are: Betty Thomas; Clint Schofield; Gloria McCluskey; Calvin Bungay; Michelle Reid; Jane Sangster; and Pamela Hartnett.

The committee will hold its first meeting on Thursday, April 13, and elect a chair and settle administrative issues before they begin work.
