Seminars on Forests Act and New Regulations

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Nova Scotia woodlot owners and contractors are invited to attend one of two seminars hosted by the Department of Natural Resources. These seminars will address how changes to the Forests Act affect woodlot operations.

"It's important for woodlot owners and contractors to attend one of these sessions to learn about changes to the Forests Act and how they may be affected," said Natural Resources Minister Ernest Fage.

Changes to the Forests Act and the new Forest Sustainability Regulations came into effect on April 12, 2000.

Other topics of discussion include the new regulations, draft Wildlife Habitat Management Regulations, funding for silviculture and roads, and the impact of the Environment Act on forest operations.

Sessions will be held in Bible Hill at the Agritech Park on April 29 and in Port Hastings at the Nautical Institute on May 13. Sessions run from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. To register, contact your local Department of Natural Resources office or call 424-6295. The cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Space is limited, so register early.
