QC Appointments Announced

Justice

Justice Minister Michael Baker today announced the appointment of 12 lawyers as Queen's Counsel.

The appointees are:

  • Leslie J. Dellapinna, Halifax
  • Anne Derrick, Halifax
  • Trinda L. Ernst, Kentville
  • Douglas J. Keefe, Halifax
  • Gerard Lukeman, Antigonish
  • Beryl Ann MacDonald, Amherst
  • Sandra MacPherson Duncan, Dartmouth
  • Glen G. McDougall, Sydney
  • Raymond S. Riddell, Halifax
  • Dawn Russell, Halifax
  • Philip J. Star, Yarmouth

"These individuals have been recognized by their colleagues as outstanding contributors to the legal community," said Mr. Baker.

"I extend sincere congratulations and applaud the professionalism you have demonstrated throughout your careers."

The criteria which must be met by the appointees include:
professional integrity, outstanding contributions to the practice of law, an exceptional contribution through teaching or continuing legal education, demonstration of exceptional qualities of leadership in the profession, or engaging in activities of a public or charitable nature in such a way as to raise the esteem in which the legal profession is held by the public.

Recommendations were made to Cabinet by an advisory committee chaired by Chief Justice Joseph Kennedy. Additional members of the committee included: Roberta Clarke, Q.C.; Richard Coughlan, Q.C.; Dr. Daurene Lewis; Robert MacKeigan, Q.C.; Arthur Mollon, Q.C.; Joel Pink, Q.C.; David Wallace, Q.C.; and John Young, Q.C.
