Escapee Still at Large

Justice

Three offenders escaped from the Kings Correctional Centre in Waterville at approximately 11:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20.

Two of the escapees were apprehended by RCMP at about 4 a.m. today in the Kingston area.

Patrick Evan Hurley is still at large. He is five feet eight inches tall, weighs 179 pounds, has brown hair and eyes, was wearing institutional greens and was clean shaven.

A steel bar was used to threaten staff during the escape, though there were no injuries. There was damage to several windows, security screens and staff cars.

The institution is currently locked down as repairs are made.
Given the forcible nature of the escape, Mr. Hurley should be considered a risk to the community.

RCMP continue to investigate. The Justice Department has launched an internal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the escape.
