NATURAL RESOURCES--Commemorative Poster to be Unveiled at Cape Chignecto

The first in a series of commemorative posters featuring Nova Scotia's provincial parks will be unveiled by Natural Resources Minister Ernest Fage at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park on Friday, July 20.

In celebration of Parks Day on July 21, the Department of Natural Resources will launch the poster as part of a series showcasing the beauty and uniqueness of Nova Scotia's provincial parks. The poster to be unveiled, titled The Three Sisters, features the unique rock formations and rugged terrain of the Cape Chignecto Provincial Park located in West Advocate, Cumberland Co.

Located at the tip of Cape Chignecto, the Three Sisters is a prime example of the untouched natural wonders of Nova Scotia's Fundy coastline. The image was professionally captured by Nova Scotia photographer, Irwin R. Barrett.

"Each poster will celebrate the significant features and original land forms located in our parks which hold special attraction for tourists and Nova Scotians alike," said Mr. Fage. "We hope the posters will serve as mementos for our tourists as they fondly remember their park experiences."

This series will capture some of the rugged terrain that most will never experience until they tour the parks for themselves. A new poster will be launched annually to help promote the natural beauty of the trails, shorelines and wilderness of the provincial park system.

The posters will be sold at provincial parks and Island Beach Company outlets located in visitor information centres. The revenue generated through the sale of the series will be used directly for park improvements throughout the province.

The official launch of the poster series takes place at 11 a.m. on Friday at a section of the park called Red Rocks, located near the entrance to Cape Chignecto Provincial Park.
