Officers Receive Long Service Awards

Justice

Twenty-five members of the Halifax Police Service and a corrections officer from the federal Springhill institution were honoured at Government House, today, May 15, for outstanding police service.

Lt.-Gov. Myra Freeman presented medals to this year's recipients of the police exemplary long service awards. Fifteen metro officers were recognized for their contributions during their 30 years of service. Ten officers received medals for 20 years of service.

Justice Minister Jamie Muir said all Nova Scotians can be proud of the contributions made by their law enforcement agencies.

"I want to thank these law enforcement officers for their dedication and persistence. They work extremely hard in very difficult jobs. I also want to thank their family members for the sacrifices they've made over the years, as these officers dedicated themselves to their public duties."
