Moose Draw Application Deadline Approaches

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

The deadline for moose license applications in Nova Scotia is fast approaching. The 1-900 line will officially close to applicants at midnight on May 31.

Hunters can call 1-900-565-3337 to enter the draw. The lines are open 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. All applicants should have their firearm hunting certificate or bowhunting certificate numbers on hand when they call. Prospective hunters must also select the zone and season that they want to hunt in before calling.

A non-refundable application fee of $6.90 will be charged each time the phone line is called. For more information on the draw see the Web site at www.gov.ns.ca/natr/draws/moosedraw or contact any Department of Natural Resources office.

A public draw to determine the successful applicants will take place on June 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mabou Community Centre in Inverness County. The season dates for this year's moose hunt are Sept. 29 to Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 to 11.

To date, 7,735 applications have been received. Last year more than 11,000 people applied for the moose draw. There will be 310 licenses available this year.
