Upgrading Trunk 3

Transportation and Public Works (to Oct. 2007)

Trunk 3 in Lunenburg County is receiving an upgrade.

About 5.6 kilometres of the road from Martin's River Bridge westerly to Mahone Bay town line will be repaved.

"This is another substantial investment in the road network of the South Shore," said Ron Russell, Minister of Transportation and Public Works. "Residents and travellers will benefit from these improvements for years to come."

Dexter Construction was awarded the contract, worth $662,000. Work is to be completed by Aug. 31.

The Department of Transportation and Public Works highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains an inventory of 3,800 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices located in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
