McNabs Island Clean Up Set to Begin

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt announced today, April 27, that a tender has been awarded for the clean up of hurricane damage on McNabs Island. R. MacLean Forestry Ltd. of Antigonish was the successful bidder.

"McNabs and Lawlor Island Provincial Park sustained considerable tree damage as a result of Hurricane Juan last fall," said Mr. Hurlburt. "I'm pleased that we are moving forward in cleaning up the trails and roadways on McNabs Island and that the public will soon be able to enjoy access to the park."

The work is expected to begin in the next couple of weeks and be completed by the end of June.

"It is expected that all the trails will be cleared by the end of June, but we hope to provide access on some of the main roads when our park season gets underway in May when the parks open for the season," said Mr. Hurlburt. "I realize that many people are anxiously awaiting the day they can once again explore on McNabs Island."
