Alcohol Ban in Some Provincial Parks
Natural Resources (to July 2018)
The Department of Natural Resources will place a temporary ban on alcohol in some provincial parks, beginning June 14.
The purpose of the ban is to help ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable camping experience, without incident.
"The safety of visitors to our parks remains our number one priority," said Richard Hurlburt, Minister of Natural Resources. "Last year, there were a number of incidents involving alcohol in a few parks, which on one occasion resulted in the serious injury of two teenagers. This is unacceptable."
The dates of the alcohol ban and the parks impacted are as follows:
- June 14 to July 5 (inclusive): Dollar Lake Camping Park and Laurie Lake Camping Park, Halifax Co.
- June 14 - 27 (inclusive): Islands Camping Park, Shelburne Co., and Ellenwood Camping Park, Yarmouth Co.
