4th Commemorative Park Poster Available

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

An image of West Mabou Beach -- entitled Beach Panorama -- is the 2004 commemorative parks poster officially unveiled today, July 16, by Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, on behalf of Natural Resources Minister Richard Hurlburt.

In celebration of Parks Day, the Department of Natural Resources has launched the fourth poster in the series that showcases the natural beauty and uniqueness of Nova Scotia's provincial parks. The 2004 image was taken at West Mabou Beach Provincial Park in Inverness County by Shirley Robb, photographer with Communications Nova Scotia.

"These posters capture many unique images of our provincial parks that might otherwise not be seen by visitors," said Mr. MacDonald. "West Mabou Beach is an outstanding coastal beach with dramatic coastal views, open grassy hills and forested trails. A majority of visitors come to Nova Scotia because of our natural environment and access to the coastline is part of the Nova Scotia experience."

Designated as a provincial park in 2001, West Mabou Beach is known for its extensive dune system. It offers visitors beach access to the Northumberland Strait and hiking experiences. The property provides opportunities for viewing soaring eagles and whales feeding near the shore, as well as the remains of early farms and homesteads.

A new poster is launched each year to help promote the natural beauty of the trails, shorelines and wilderness of Nova Scotia's provincial park system. The posters are sold at provincial camping parks, visitor information centres and through the department's parks website.
