New Crown Attorney Appointed

Jim Fyfe has been appointed a Crown attorney in Shelburne, Martin Herschorn, director of Public Prosecutions, said today, Sept. 22.

Mr. Fyfe, a native of Yarmouth, received a bachelor of arts from Acadia University and went on to law school at the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 1993. He was appointed a Crown attorney with the Department of Justice in Newfoundland a year later.

In 2002, Mr. Fyfe relocated to Shelburne and entered general practice, joining the Celia J. Melanson Law Office. Over the past couple of years he worked periodically as a per diem Crown attorney in Shelburne.

Mr. Fyfe replaces Jim Burrill, who was appointed a provincial court judge last year.

The appointment is effective Nov. 1.
