TOURISM, CULTURE AND HERITAGE--2005 Doers' and Dreamers' Guide Now Available

Hot off the presses, Nova Scotia's 2005 Doers' and Dreamers' Guide is making its way to the mailboxes of vacation enthusiasts around the world.

The 425-page guide contains listings on about 3,000 accommodations and campgrounds, restaurants, museums and attractions, outdoor operations and adventures, signature festivals and events, and tour operators. This year's cover features the scenic Skyline Trail in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

"The 2005 travel guide features countless ways for people to experience Nova Scotia," said Rodney MacDonald, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Heritage. "It will help us to promote the province as a unique, year-round vacation destination that has something for everyone."

This year, 650,000 copies of the English guide were printed and 100,000 French copies. They will be distributed in response to inquiries generated through advertising campaigns, calls to the Nova Scotia Information and Reservation Service, and e-mail and website inquiries. Guides also are distributed to travel agencies, tour operators, trade shows, travel media and Visitor Information Centers.

The Tour Operators and Services section has been redesigned this year to include all operators that offer a tour experience, such as bus tours, whale-watching tours or kayaking tours. The guide also features information and pictures on some of the province's top attractions and events, along with sections on activities for the fall and winter seasons.

"This guide contains valuable information to help people enjoy Nova Scotia," said Charles Clerk, chair, Tourism Partnership Council. "It clearly outlines the high-quality experiences and services offered by tourism operators across the province."

Copies of the 2005 Doers' and Dreamers' Guide are available by calling the Nova Scotia Information and Reservation Service at 1- 800-565-0000 , or through the province's official tourism website, www.novascotia.com .
