Moose Draw Deadline Extension

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Potential moose hunters will have an extra five days to get their names into this year's draw for 345 licences.

Natural Resources Minister Brooke Taylor said the new deadline is midnight, Monday, June 5.

"We would usually stop taking applications by May 31, but we've had fewer applications this year, so we'll extend the deadline to give hunters every opportunity to get in on the moose hunt this fall," said Mr. Taylor. "The hunt has been very successful in recent years."

Applicants can call 1-900-565-3337, or mail their application form to Moose Draw, Wildlife Division, 136 Exhibition St., Kentville, N.S., B4N 4E5.

There are four separate zones in Nova Scotia where moose hunting is permitted. Hunting permits are distributed among the four zones and hunters must choose a specific zone when applying. Hunters must also select one of three seasons.

Winners are notified by mail following the annual moose hunt licence draw, to be held this year at the Inverary Inn Resort in Baddeck, at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 13.
