Notice of Collection Agency Licence Suspension

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

The province has suspended the licence of Atlantic Collection Agency Limited for four months. The suspension begins Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The suspension is the result of an investigation conducted by Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations following several complaints of violations under the Collections Agency Act.

During the suspension, the company may not engage in any new collection activity or solicit new business. However, payments by debtors that are already scheduled to be made during this time should be made to the company as previously arranged.

Nova Scotia's Collection Agencies Act regulates collection agencies by setting conditions that protect payments made by debtors until they are remitted to creditors. The act also sets out the collection practices of the companies and their individual collectors. Debtors and creditors can receive more information by calling toll-free 1-800-670-4357.
