Amendments to Improve Engineering Profession Act

Justice

Amendments are being introduced to strengthen and modernize the Engineering Profession Act.

"We are pleased to support the Association of Professional Engineers in their efforts to update and improve legislation governing their profession," said Justice Minister Murray Scott.

The Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia has been in the process of updating its legislation and bylaws for several years.

The amendments will: give the association authority to establish joint-practice boards with other professional associations; permit non-residents to join the association, provided they are Canadian citizens or permanent residents; and permit the association council to set fees as prescribed by the bylaws.
