Paradise Trail Now Closed to Motorized Vehicles

Natural Resources (to July 2018)

Barriers are now in place to prevent off-highway vehicles from accessing the abandoned Dominion Atlantic Railway line through Paradise, Annapolis Co.

The province remains open to working with interested groups to further explore trail options in the area. The departments of Natural Resources and Health Promotion and Protection are dedicated to helping off-highway vehicle operators establish safe and responsible places to ride, while respecting the rights and needs of others in the community in a fair and balanced manner.

Plans to close the trail to motorized vehicles were first announced by the minister of Natural Resources about two years ago, in response to concerns from some property owners adjacent to the abandoned rail bed.

The ban will be enforced by Department of Natural Resources officers and, where appropriate, RCMP. Operators who ignore the ban can be charged under the Crown Lands Act and/or the Motor Vehicle Act.
