Tenders Called for Highway 103 Paving in Lunenburg County

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A section of the major highway along the South Shore in Lunenburg County will be smoother and stronger after the completion of a road-paving tender announced by the province.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal called for tenders to repave Highway 103 from the Halifax/Lunenburg County Line near Hubbards west for about 13 kilometres to Exit 7 near East River. Also included is repaving of the access roads at exits 6 and 7 from Highway 103 to Trunk 3.

"Building better highways for Nova Scotia is a top priority with government," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Highway 103 is a vital lifeline to communities all along the South Shore."

The project is scheduled to be completed this summer.

The highways division of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
