Three Paving Tenders Called

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Three paving tenders announced by the province will help Nova Scotians get around on smoother, stronger highways this year.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal called for tenders to repave the following sections:

  • Highway 104 in Pictou County from the end of the existing twinned section east for 9.8 kilometres to exit 27A near Sutherlands River. Also included are repairs to the Thorburn and Pine Tree Road overpasses;

  • Route 333 in Halifax Regional Municipality from the intersection of Macdonalds Drive east for 8.8 kilometres;

  • Route 335 in Yarmouth County from the intersection of Green Grove Road east for 6.3 kilometres.

All three projects, totalling 24.5 kilometres of paving, are scheduled to be completed this summer. During the past two years, the department has paved 1,100 kilometres of Nova Scotia roads.

"As illustrated by these tenders, secondary roads and 100-series highways alike are on the government's radar for improvement," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Our roads are a vital lifeline that keep people and goods flowing throughout Nova Scotia."

These projects are part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The highways division of the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
