Road-Paving Contract Awarded, Lunenburg County

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A $1,181,825 road-paving contract in Lunenburg County has been awarded by the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

The contract was awarded to Dexter Construction Ltd. to repave Route 331 from the intersection of School Road in LaHave, south for 4.5 kilometres to the West Dublin/Dublin shore line. The project is scheduled for completion this summer.

"Getting these jobs out early to contractors helps them prepare more efficiently for the coming construction season," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "When this project is completed we'll have repaved more than 20 kilometres of Route 331 since 2006."

The project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
