Tenders Called for Colchester Paving Project

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Drivers on one of Nova Scotia's busiest highways will soon be getting a smoother ride in the Truro area because of a road-paving tender announced today, Feb. 6, by the province.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal called for tenders to repave the northbound lanes of Hwy. 102 from the Irwin Lake Road overpass north for six kilometres to Exit 13.

"Almost 9,000 vehicles a day drive on this section so it's important to keep it in top shape," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "The 100-series highways are a vital lifeline important to all Nova Scotians."

This project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
