Museum of Industry Has Sweet March Break

Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

The Museum of Industry in Stellarton is offering a tasty chance to soothe March Break cravings for fun and entertainment.

Chocolate ... A Sweet Adventure will run until March 15 at the museum. Laugh and enjoy Mr. J's Magic of Chocolate, during four shows daily. Come and savour chocolate-themed programs and fun chocolate-y activities, including candy demonstrations from Pictou Lodge, The Candy Shop of Port Hastings and Sugah of Halifax.

Explore the history of chocolate and enjoy a taste of the treat as it was prepared in the 1700s. Discover how it was used at Fortress Louisbourg and sample authentic hot chocolate like it was made for the French governor.

On Saturday, March 15 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can try to break a world record by entering a chocolate-eating contest. Competitors will attempt to break the world record for eating the most Ferrero Rocher chocolates in one minute. The Guinness world record is five chocolates. See the website for a contest entry form, or drop by to watch.

Special programs and activities for children are scheduled all week.

  • Chocolate Jungle, for ages 5 to 7, shows the connections between cacao trees and the other plants and animals of the tropical jungle
  • Stories with Chocolate, for ages 2 to 7, features a re-telling of favorite fairy tales with a chocolate twist
