Province Tenders Paving Project in HRM

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Drivers on an important route to Sheet Harbour and the Musquodoboit Valley will soon have a smoother ride because of a road-paving tender announced today, March 12.

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal is calling for tenders to repave Route 224 starting 0.2 kilometres west of Rocky Brook bridge going east for 6.3 km.

"This is the third major project the department has done on Route 224 in the last three years," said Brooke Taylor, acting Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "This route provides an important connection between Sheet Harbour and central Nova Scotia."

The project is part of government's commitment to better roads and infrastructure as outlined in the speech from the throne.

The department's highways division manages more than 23,000 kilometres of roads in Nova Scotia. It maintains 4,100 bridges and operates seven provincial ferries. Staff provide services from district offices in Bridgewater, Bedford, Truro and Sydney.
