Sea Monster Exhibit Extended at Maritime Museum

Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

After a busy March Break, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has decided to extend the exhibit component of the popular Sea Monsters program until April 27.

During the program's eight-day run, nearly 5,200 excited visitors had the opportunity to discover the truth, fiction and folklore behind the ocean's most mysterious creatures and learned that when it comes to Sea Monsters, there's more to "sea" than meets the eye!

While the activity-based parts of the March Break program, such as the Sea Monster craft room and dress-up corner, have ended, staff found that the information, artifacts, and specimens of the program's exhibit component warranted an extension.

"To the credit of our guest curator, Andrew Hebda, we had so much interesting information to share on this subject," said Gerry Lunn, the exhibit's co-creator. "These fascinating sightings and explanations enthralled our March Break audience, so it only made sense to re-arrange the exhibit in our temporary gallery and give even more guests the chance to enjoy it."

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is located at 1675 Lower Water St., Halifax.
