Justice Department to Launch External Audit

Justice

Justice Minister and Attorney General Cecil Clarke today, April 10, announced the launch of an independent external audit of the policies and procedures of correctional facilities in Nova Scotia.

The audit will determine whether Department of Justice policies and procedures meet national standards and will focus on the policies and procedures at the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Dartmouth. The audit will look at the safety and security procedures in relation to incidents that have occurred in the past year.

The Department of Justice is in the process of engaging an outside expert in corrections to conduct the audit, which will begin as soon as possible.
