Service Delays at Access Nova Scotia, Motor Vehicle Offices

Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations (Oct. 2000 - March 2014)

Service delays are being experienced at Access Nova Scotia centres and Registry of Motor Vehicles offices across the province.

Normal seasonal increases for vehicle licencing, and a recent move to a new computer system are causing the delays. As a result, customers across the province may experience waits of up to one hour.

"We appreciate the continued patience of Nova Scotians as staff become familiar with the new system and work to resolve IT challenges," said Jamie Muir, Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations. "We hope to have the majority of computer challenges resolved over the coming weeks."

People are encouraged to visit www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr for the following on-line services:

  • vehicle permit renewal
  • fine payments
  • road test and knowledge test payments
  • change of address for driver's licence and licence plate numbers

Access Nova Scotia serves about 4,000 people per day. Every effort will be made to minimize delays and Access Nova Scotia apologizes for any inconvenience caused by longer waits.
