Members of the arts and culture community can mark their calendars for the third annual Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala and Conference to be held in Halifax on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Paul Gallant, chair of the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council, announced today, June 24, that the awards gala will be held at Pier 21 and the conference at the Delta Halifax.

"We are thrilled to bring Creative Nova Scotia to Halifax this year," said Mr. Gallant. "As the hub of cultural activity in the province, it embodies all that the arts and culture sector has to offer in a vibrant and eclectic setting."

The conference provides an excellent learning and networking opportunity, while the awards gala encourages and celebrates the pursuit of excellence by Nova Scotia artists. It was first held in 2006 at the deCoste Centre in Pictou. Last year it was held at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.

This year's awards gala will include the presentation of the Portia White Prize and the Prix Grand-Pré, as well as the Community Arts and Culture Recognition Award and the Established Artist Recognition Awards.

More information on the third annual Creative Nova Scotia Awards Gala and Conference will be available during the coming months.

The Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council, in consultation with the arts and culture sector, provides advice and recommendations to guide the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage regarding ongoing investment in Nova Scotia's artists, cultural industries and cultural activities.
