CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Newville Road

The Newville Road Bridge over Davidson Brook north of Parrsboro will be closed from Monday, Aug. 18 until Friday, Aug. 22, to allow for replacement of the bridge.

Detour signs are posted. Please drive with extra care and obey signs and personnel in the area.

GUYSBOROUGH COUNTY: Melford Brook Bridge Weight Restriction

Vehicles weighing more than 15 tonnes are prohibited from using the Melford Brook Bridge on Route 344 in Guysborough County until further notice.

KINGS COUNTY: Berwick Bridge, Route 360

Traffic on Berwick Bridge on Route 360 over the Cornwallis River is restricted to one lane for repairs.

Signs and traffic signals are in place. Motorists should use extra caution in the area.

Work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, Aug. 22.

LUNENBURG COUNTY: Sweetland Road

The bridge on Sweetland Road near Back Cornwall Road, north of Blockhouse, will be closed from Monday, Aug. 18 until Friday, Aug. 22 to allow for repairs.

Detour signs are posted and available on Cornwall Road, Route 325 and Northfield Road. Please drive with extra care and obey signs and personnel in the area.

PICTOU COUNTY: Young Road

Starting Monday, Aug. 18 access to and from Highway 104 on Young Road in Pine Tree will be closed until further notice to allow for continuing construction on the Highway 104 twinning project.

The road remains open to local residences but will have no exit.

VICTORIA COUNTY: Highway 105

Traffic on sections of Highway 105 from west of Exit 8 to Exit 8 near Baddeck is restricted to one lane to allow for repaving.

Work will take place between from sunrise to sunset until Tuesday Sept. 30.

Signs and traffic control people will help move traffic safely through the construction zone. Please drive with extra care and obey signs and personnel in the area.

CONTINUING WORK


ANNAPOLIS COUNTY: Highway 101

Traffic on sections of Highway 101 will be reduced to one lane between Exits 18 (Middleton) and Exit 19 (Lawrencetown)to allow for repaving.

Traffic will be controlled by signs and traffic control people but delays are possible. An alternate route is available on Trunk 1.

Please drive with extra care in the construction zone and obey signs and personnel in the area. Work is scheduled for completion on Sunday, Aug. 31.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Highway 104

Construction work on Highway 104 in Antigonish County will be done around the clock until Sunday, Aug. 31.

Repaving is happening from West River Bridge east for 5.7 kilometres to the intersection of Route 316 in Lower South River.

Both lanes will remain open during daytime construction. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., there may be one-lane closures.

Signs and a pilot vehicle are on site. Drivers should exercise caution in the construction zone.

ANTIGONISH COUNTY: Route 245

Route 245 from Brierly Brook Road, west for eight kilometres, will have alternating lane closures for ditching, repaving and culvert installation until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Highway 125

Traffic on the three-lane sections of Highway 125, from Exit 6 (King Road/Trunk 4) to Grand Lake Road, will be reduced to two lanes to allow for repaving. Traffic will be free flowing with one lane eastbound and one lane westbound until Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Minor delays are expected. Alternate routes at Kings Road and Grand Lake Road. Work takes place from dawn to dusk.

CAPE BRETON REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Main-a-Dieu

Main-a-Dieu Road will have a one-lane closure starting two kilometres east of Trunk 22 and going for 4.7 kilometres towards Main-a-Dieu until Friday, Oct 31.

Work takes place from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

COLCHESTER COUNTY: Truro Bridge Closure

The overpass connecting Queen Street and East Prince Street over the CN Rail tracks in Truro will be closed for repairs until Monday, Sept. 1.

Drivers should use an alternate route.

Route 336 from the intersection of Southside Road, south to the county line, will be reduced to one lane for cold planing, culvert installation and repaving, about eight kilometres, until Aug. 31.

Traffic control consists of barrels and cones. Work takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Burnside Drive

Burnside Drive will have lane closures for widening at various times until Sunday, Aug. 31. Gravelling, signal installation, paving and repaving will take place from Commodore Drive to Exit 3 and from the eastbound ramp from Highway 111 to Burnside Drive for about one kilometre.

Traffic control consists of cones, barriers, signs and traffic control people. Work takes place from sunrise to sunset.

HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY: Ingramport Bridge

Ingramport Bridge, Trunk 3 will be detoured due to repairs to bridge. A temporary bridge is in place south of the work zone. The work will last until Sunday, Nov. 30.

Please obey signs and reduce speed on temporary bridge and work zone.

Detour in effect 24 hours per day.

Highway 102 will be reduced to one lane for paving from Exit 7(Enfield) to Exit 5A (Aerotech), including ramps, until Friday, August 22.

Route 224 from Rocky Brook to Beaver Dam, about 6.1 kilometres, will have one-lane closures for gravelling and repaving until Sunday, Aug. 31.

About 8.8 kilometres of Route 333, from Blind Bay east to Shad Bay, will be reduced to one lane for patching and repaving until Sunday, Aug. 31.

HANTS COUNTY: Abel Harvey Bridge

Abel Harvey Bridge on Cogmagun Road will be closed for repairs from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during weekdays until Friday, Aug. 22.

The bridge will be open during the weekend and on weekday evenings.

Alternate routes are available via Cogmagum Road to Beaver Pond Road, Highway 215, and Cheverie Road. Motorists should use extra caution in the area.

HANTS COUNTY: Bog Road Overpass Closed

The overpass that carries Bog Road over Highway 101 is closed until Sunday, Nov. 30 to be replaced as part of the Highway 101 twinning project.

A marked detour route is available on Rand Street, Bishopville Road, and Old Post Road.

HANTS COUNTY: Halfway River Bridge, Highway 101

Continuing work on the new bridge and approaches at Halfway River on Highway 101 will require intermittent lane closures on the existing on- and off-ramps at Exit 8 until Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Work takes place from sunrise to sunset, Monday to Friday. Traffic control people and signs are on site.

HANTS COUNTY: Route 215 Detour

Traffic on Route 215 in the Urbania area near Stewiacke will be detoured because of damage to a culvert. A two-kilometre detour is provided on Ox Bow Road, (Old Loop Shore Road)until further notice.

HANTS COUNTY: Trunk 14

Trunk 14 from Garden Road in Nine Mile River to Trunk 2 in Milford will be reduced to one lane until Sunday, Aug. 31.

Traffic control people will be on site. Work takes place from dawn to dusk.

The Grand Etang Bridge in the community of Grand Etang will occasionally be reduced to one lane for bridge replacement until Friday, Oct. 31.

A detour is available via a temporary bridge, marked with signs and directional lighting. Traffic control people will be on site.

The Portree Bridge on Hatchery Road will be closed until further notice.

INVERNESS COUNTY: Trunk 19

Sections of Trunk 19 will be reduced to one lane for repaving from the intersection at Margaree Forks for eight kilometres south to the intersection with Route 395 at South West Margaree.

Signs and a pilot vehicle will be on site. Work will take place from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Aylesford Road, north for about 6.4 kilometres will be reduced to one lane for paving until Friday, Oct. 31.

Ira Bill Road in Billtown, Kings Co. is closed because of a culvert failure until Wednesday, Oct. 1.

North River Road, 12.3 kilometres from English Mountain Road, west for about 2.8 kilometres will be reduced to one lane until Friday, Oct. 31.

PICTOU COUNTY: Big Gut Bridge

The Big Gut Bridge on Route 348 is now open to two-lane traffic, however work crews will be on the site until Wednesday, Aug. 20 adding finishing touches to the project. Drivers should travel with extra care in the construction zone and obey signs and personnel in the area.

The old bridge was destroyed by fire in 2006 and a temporary one-lane bridge has been in place since then.

Granton-Abercrombie Road, from the Trenton Connector north for about 5.7 kilometres, will be reduced to one lane for patching and paving until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

PICTOU COUNTY: Road Closure

Flooding has closed two sections of Six Mile Brook Road in the Salt Springs area until further notice. The first section is at Morrison culvert south of Graveyard Road. The other section is for about one kilometre north of Morrison Culvert.

RICHMOND COUNTY: 4 Sections

The following sections of road will be reduced to one lane for cold planing, pulverization, repaving and drainage until Tuesday, Sept. 30.

  • Trunk 4 from the intersection of Black River Road east to South Side River Bourgeois Road for about 8 kilometres.

  • Highway 104/Trunk 4 Connector at Exit 47 for about one kilometre.

  • Trunk 4 from River Tillard Bridge, west to Highway 104 for about a half kilometre.

  • Rock Bay Road from the Rocky Bay Hall, east to Bona Road, for about 2.6 kilometres.

There will be traffic control and a pilot vehicle on site. Work takes place from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Big Baddeck Road will be reduced to one lane from the Old Margaree intersection north for five kilometres for pipe installation, ditching, guardrail installation and paving until Sunday, Aug. 31.
