Consistency Pays Off In Chowderfest

Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

Flavour, appearance, and consistency were what won the judges over in the third annual St. Mary's Chowderfest held in Sherbrooke Aug. 23 and 24.

Harold Corkum of Sherbrooke excelled in all three areas and placed first in the domestic category for the third consecutive year. Three separate panels of judges in three different years, have found Mr. Corkum's chowder to be the favourite.

The second-place winner was Danny McIntosh of Sherbrooke, a silver medalist from two years ago, and third place went to Barb Cross of Sherbrooke, who has won bronze the past two years.

In the restaurant category, the Marquis of Dufferin, Port Dufferin, won first place, while Lakeside Restaurant, of Indian Harbour Lake, took second place after a third place finish last year. Liscombe Lodge was awarded the bronze medal after receiving an honourable mention last year.

The winner of the People's Choice Award in the restaurant category was Wise Choice Catering of Musquodoboit Harbour.
