Sherbrooke Ready to Show and Shine

Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

Classic cars and trucks will roll into Sherbrooke Village for the 14th annual Sherbrooke Show and Shine from Friday, Sept. 5 to Sunday, Sept. 7.

More than 250 antique, classic and customized automobiles from around the Maritimes and beyond are expected. The show has attracted cars from as far away as Washington State.

Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including best car and truck from the '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s, best antique, street rod and original, best local entry, and longest distance travelled.

Registration is Friday, Sept. 5 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the ball field beside the main Sherbrooke Village entrance. George Brothers and the band Ol Blue will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Sherbrooke Courthouse. The concert will feature a mixture of swing, country and roots music.

The Show and Shine runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, Ol Blue will show off its classic rock side with music from the '50s, '60s and '70s at the dance at the Sherbrooke Lions Hall from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Admission to the Show and Shine is free for participating auto owners, $5 for adults, $3 for children younger than 16, and $15 for a family of two adults and children younger than 16. Proceeds benefit the Historic Sherbrooke Village Development Society as well as St. Mary's Minor Hockey.
