Doyle's Bridge to be Replaced in 2009 Construction Season

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal will replace Doyle's Bridge in Inverness County in the 2009 construction season.

The bridge, which crosses Margaree River near the Cabot Trail, was closed in October of this year because of extensive corrosion. It will be replaced with a new panel structure in the summer.

"Doyle's Bridge provides a vital link for Inverness County," said Murray Scott, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Our workers will be out replacing this bridge as soon as possible in the next construction season."

Built in the 1970s, Doyle's Bridge is a 48 metre Bailey bridge, and is one of the oldest of its kind in Nova Scotia. Its replacement will cost about $900,000.
