Department Notifies Public of Mistaken Release

Justice

The Department of Justice is notifying the public about a Halifax man who was mistakenly released from a correctional facility.

Chancelor Faulkner, 19, went to Halifax court on March 24 and was found guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Mr. Faulkner should have been returned to the Central Nova Scotia Correctional Facility in Burnside to await a court appearance, Thursday, April 23 to face additional charges. There was an error on his documentation that indicated he need not return.

The mistake was discovered during a routine file audit when corrections noticed the discrepancy and contacted courts to confirm the status of the individual. The department was notified late today, March 30.

Halifax Regional Police have been notified and are seeking Mr.Faulkner. Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call police.
