Highland Village Hosts Gardening, Pest Management Seminars

Gardening enthusiasts can learn basic vegetable and fruit growing practices and pest management at the Highland Village Museum in Iona, Victoria Co.

The museum will host two seminars with Rosie Smith, curatorial assistant of agricultural interpretation. The first will be held Thursday, July 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and focus on vegetable production. The second session, focusing on fruit production, will be held in August.

Both will cover topic areas including choosing, planting, and preparing garden beds, selecting and saving seeds, pest and weed control, and practices for sustainability for the whole gardening season.

The cost for the seminars is $15 each and space is limited. Participants will also receive take home booklets.

The event is in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture.
