More Road Improvement Projects Announced

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

A variety of road improvements for Nova Scotia, with an estimated value of more than $11 million, will be completed this year as a result of four tenders announced today, Aug. 5.

"We are on track to get these four important jobs completed this year," said Frank Corbett, acting Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "Building good roads is not only vital to our communities, it also provides work for hundreds of Nova Scotians."

Planned spending for road improvements is over $100 million more than last year, making this year's highway improvement plan one of the most ambitious in the province's history. A portion of the funding will come from federal programs.

"We're working closely with our funding partners to make sure we get every available dollar put to work," said Mr. Corbett.

Tenders announced today include:

  • Highway 104, repaving the westbound lanes for nine kilometres between Exits 15 and 17 near Truro
  • Highway 104, bridge and overpass repair at five locations in Antigonish County
  • Road and roundabout construction at the intersection of Wentworth Road and Morrison Drive, Hants County
  • Route 255, bridge construction over McAskills Brook in Glace Bay.
