More Road Improvement Projects Announced

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

The province's steady flow of road work will continue to provide improved infrastructure to Nova Scotians this year as a result of seven tenders announced today, Aug. 12.

"We're determined to keep the road builders of Nova Scotia on the go by getting these necessary jobs into their hands during the current construction season," said Bill Estabrooks, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal. "By working closely with the federal government and the municipalities we're able to deliver a first-class road-improvement program for 2009."

Planned spending for road improvements is over $100 million more than last year, making this year's highway improvement plan one of the most ambitious in the province's history. These seven tenders have an estimated value of almost $12 million.

Tenders announced today include:

  • Colchester County, 5.7 kilometres of repaving on Trunk 2 and Plains Road
  • Cumberland County, eight kilometres of repaving on Trunk 4
  • Hants County, seven kilometres of repaving plus drainage improvements on Trunk 2
  • Lunenburg County, 7.8 kilometres of repaving on four different roads
  • Pictou County, 5.2 kilometres of repaving on Route 256
  • Pictou County, paving of four streets in the west Pictou area
  • Yarmouth County, 3.4 kilometres of repaving on Raynardton Road.
