Sherbrooke Village Hosts Fundraiser For Lodge That Gives

Tourism, Culture and Heritage (Dec. 2003 - Jan. 2011)

Motorcycles of all types will roll into Sherbrooke Village for a rally in support of the Lodge That Gives in Halifax, Aug. 28-30.

The rally raises funds for the lodge, which offers a home away from home for cancer patients and their families who live more than 50 kilometres away from the cancer treatment centre.

The first annual Rally That Gives, held on Labour Day weekend last year, drew more than 60 motorcycles. Organizers are expecting a bigger turnout this year.

The weekend event will begin on Friday, Aug. 28, with a benefit concert at the courthouse featuring The Friday Night Blues Bash with George Brothers and Friends.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, there will be a full day of activities, including a poker rally/cruise, field events, and bike show and shine. The evening will feature a country dinner in the village followed by live entertainment at Nimrod's Campground.

Sunday, Aug. 30, will feature a farewell breakfast and rally wrap-up. All makes and models of bikes are welcome and prizes will be awarded in categories for best touring motorcycle, best custom bike, best sport class, and others, and for field event competitions.
