Show and Shine 2009

Sherbrooke Village is cruising back in time in 2009 with vintage automobiles.

On Sept. 11-13, Sherbrooke Village will partner with the Historic Sherbrooke Village Development Society and St. Mary's Minor Hockey to host the 15th annual Sherbrooke Show and Shine.

More than 250 antique, classic and customized automobiles from all over the Maritimes and beyond are expected to participate in the show. In past years, the Show and Shine has attracted cars from as far away as Washington State, as well as New Brunswick, P.E.I., and the rest of Nova Scotia.

Early registration will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, from 6 p.m to 7:30 p.m. at the ballfield next to the main Sherbrooke Village entrance. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Prizes will be awarded in various categories including best '50s car, best '50s truck, best antique, best street rod, best '60s car, best '60s truck, special interest, best '70s car, best import, best '70s truck, best '80s car, best '80s truck, best original, best local entry and longest distance travelled.

On Friday evening, Gertie Grant and Friends will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the Sherbrooke Courthouse. The concert will feature a mixture of old rock and country music.

On Saturday, the Show & Shine dance will feature the band Marine Drive at Sherbrooke Lions Hall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Admission to the Show and Shine is free for participating auto owners, $5 for adults, $3 for children younger than 16, and $15 for a family of two adults and children younger than 16. Proceeds from the Sherbrooke Show and Shine benefit the Historic Sherbrooke Village Development Society and St. Mary's Minor Hockey.
