Amendments Introduced to Engineering Profession Act

Justice

Amendments to the Engineering Profession Act introduced today, Sept. 18, will create a more modern and comprehensive complaint and disciplinary process and speed up the process of recognizing engineers from out of province who want to practice in Nova Scotia.

"We are pleased to work with Engineers Nova Scotia, to support the more than 5,000 professional engineers and engineers-in-training, practicing in Nova Scotia or on Nova Scotia projects," said Justice Minister Ross Landry. "We fully endorse their efforts to support the professional practices of their membership."

The amendments will also provide for a mandatory professional development program and approve the adoption of an updated and gender neutral code of ethics.

These changes were requested by Engineers Nova Scotia.
