Seniors groups invited to propose projects for Positive Aging

Seniors (Oct. 2007 - Aug. 2021)

Not-for-profit groups throughout the province are again invited to develop and propose community-based projects for seniors, by seniors.

"These programs have been enormously successful and well-received by seniors' groups throughout the province who are volunteering to get these projects off the ground," said Denise Peterson-Rafuse, Minister of Seniors. "The creative projects and new partnerships we see in the applications are remarkable and exciting."

With a focus on health, well-being and community participation, the Positive Aging Fund offers project grants of up to $10,000 to non-profit organizations that propose new or extended activities for seniors in their area. This funding round has $220,000 available to cover up to 100 per cent of project costs.

The Positive Aging Fund also helps advance the Strategy for Positive Aging, a long-term guide for planning for the province's aging population. It was the first of its kind to be launched in Canada.

Since 2008, $554,911 have been awarded to 70 organizations for Positive Aging Grant projects across the province.

More information on the grants and application forms are available on the Department of Seniors website at www.gov.ns.ca/seniors or by calling toll-free 1-800-670-0065.
