More Time for Wetlands Consultation

Environment (April 2008 - Feb. 2021)

Nova Scotians have more time to comment on a draft wetlands conservation policy for their province.

The proposed policy's aim is to prevent the net loss of wetlands in the province while managing for sustainable economic development.

The Department of Environment received an unexpectedly large volume of responses to the proposal, and requests from groups in many sectors for more time to complete responses. The public consultation period for written submissions has been extended to Dec. 21 to accommodate those requests and to provide ample time to summarize and analyze responses. All submissions must be received by this date.

The wetlands conservation policy will help manage Nova Scotia's wetlands in a consistent way. It will help integrate the need to conserve wetlands for the future with the need for sustainable economic development.

Written submissions may be sent to <Wetland_Policy_Comments@gov.ns.ca> or to Wetland Policy Comments, Department of Environment, 5151 Terminal Rd., P.O. Box 442, Halifax, N.S., B3J 2P8, or by FAX to 902-424-0503.
