Reminder to Use Headlights

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

TRANSPORTATION/INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL--Reminder to Use Headlights During Daytime

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal reminds people that it is the law to drive with low-beam headlights on.

Daytime running lights make vehicles more visible to oncoming drivers and pedestrians, especially during snowy conditions. In 2009, the province passed legislation requiring the use of daytime running lights.

Drivers are encouraged to check road conditions before leaving home by viewing highway webcams on the department's site, mobile 511 or by calling 511. Also available on the department's website are a list of safe winter driving tips and the department's plowing priorities.
