Highway 113 Corridor Approved With Conditions

Environment (April 2008 - Feb. 2021)

A proposed four-lane, controlled access highway near Hammonds Plains in Halifax Regional Municipality, has received conditional environmental assessment approval.

Highway 113, will connect Highways 102 and 103.

The decision includes conditions such as:

  • establishing a community liaison committee
  • establishing an intergovernmental liaison committee
  • updating wildlife surveys
  • updating water well surveys
  • developing a wetland mitigation and monitoring plan
  • submitting an environmental protection plan

Nova Scotia Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal submitted the project for an environmental assessment on Oct. 16, 2009. The assessment process, which is conducted by the Department of Environment, is a regulatory tool used for evaluating the potential environmental effects of major developments before they proceed.
