Funding Available for Innovative Senior's Projects

Seniors (Oct. 2007 - Aug. 2021)

Communities are again being invited to apply for Age-friendly Communities Program funding to make community features and services more accessible for seniors.

"These grants are part of the commitment we made to support communities who are working toward becoming more age-friendly," said Denise Peterson-Rafuse, Minister of Seniors. "They are also part of government's commitment to make life better for families in every region."

The Age-Friendly Communities Program helps municipalities and their community partners create or adapt structures or services to be accessible and inclusive of seniors so they are able to lead healthy, active lives. Participating municipalities match these provincial grants, which can be up to $5,000 per project.

"Nova Scotians are embracing the age-friendly concept because they see that what is good for seniors is good for people of all ages," added Ms. Peterson-Rafuse.

The grants are part of senior-focused funding initiatives that include the Positive Aging Fund and Senior Safety Grants. They advance the province's Strategy for Positive Aging, a long-term guide for planning for the aging population.

The deadline for applications is July 30. More information on the grants and application forms and a list of grant recipients are available at www.gov.ns.ca/seniors or by calling toll-free 1-800-670-0065.
