Province Participates in Continent-Wide Truck Inspection Blitz

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (Oct. 2007 - Feb. 2021)

Vehicle compliance officers in Nova Scotia will be taking part in the annual Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance truck inspection blitz from today, June 8 until Thursday, June 10 at the Amherst vehicle compliance station on Highway 104.

Known as Roadcheck 2010, the international campaign emphasizes the importance of year-round commercial vehicle and driver safety inspections.

Nova Scotia is a regular participant in this and other safety programs aimed at saving lives on North American highways. Last year, 245 inspections were carried out during the Nova Scotia event.

Dan Leopold, manager of Vehicle Compliance for Nova Scotia Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal, said the safety record of commercial vehicles in Nova Scotia compares favourably with other provinces. "We've increased our staff during the past few years and have been working closely with the industry and other jurisdictions to educate drivers on what to look for when checking out their vehicles."
