Ministerial Assistants Announced

Premier's Office

Premier Darrell Dexter today, Feb. 10, announced the appointments of new ministerial assistants and changes in the assignments of others.

The new appointments better align responsibilities with announced department changes.

"Our ministerial assistants are instrumental in helping to ensure that government policies and programs address the key priorities of government and make life better for Nova Scotia families," said Premier Dexter. "I want to take this opportunity to welcome the appointees to their new roles and thank them for accepting this important responsibility."

New appointees are:

  • Jim Morton, ministerial assistant for the Department of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism
  • Pam Birdsall, ministerial assistant for the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage
  • Mat Whynott, ministerial assistant to the Minister responsible for Youth
  • Sid Prest, ministerial assistant for the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture

Lenore Zann, formerly ministerial assistant for the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, is now ministerial assistant to the House Leader, as Gary Burrill moves to Community Services (Housing).

Ministerial assistants do not receive additional pay for their roles, and the positions are not full-time.
