First-round Winners Announced in My Nova Scotia Campaign

Economic and Rural Development and Tourism (Jan. 2011 - April 2015)

Percy Paris, Minister of Economic and Rural Development and Tourism, announced the first round of contest winners in the My Nova Scotia regional tourism campaign in Halifax today, April 18.

The campaign bus tour celebrated its successful conclusion with a final round of road show auditions on the waterfront near the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

"We are very pleased with the results of the My Nova Scotia campaign audition tour," said Mr. Paris. "Hundreds of talented Nova Scotians have told us what they love about the province in their own unique way. They are inspiring our regional television campaign, and helping us tell the world that Nova Scotia is the place to be this summer."

Winners, April MacLean from Baddeck, Michelle Lucas from Dartmouth, Terry and Alex Ryan of Fall River, and Kyle Doucette, Lisa Doucette, and Nathan Boudreau from Clare, will star in television commercials airing in the Maritimes beginning May 9.

"We are so excited to be part of the My Nova Scotia contest," said Mr. Doucette. "We love Nova Scotia for its music scene. From old time fiddle and traditional, to folk and bluegrass, there's always great music being played in Clare, Yarmouth and across the province. We are proud to be able to tell everyone they need to come and enjoy it for themselves."

The My Nova Scotia tour bus travelled to 14 communities across the province inviting people to create a video explaining what they love most about Nova Scotia.

Auditions will also be held in at the Saltscapes Expo in Halifax from April 29 to May 1.

The campaign continues online until May 2. Twenty-one winners will be chosen.
