Legislation Repeals Outdated Legislation, Fixes Another

Justice

The province is repealing two pieces of outdated legislation and fixing a typographical error in another with legislation to be introduced today, Nov. 7.

The Civil Constables Act and the Constables Act will be repealed. Their provisions can be found in existing legislation, including the Police Act, the Police Services Act and the Private Investigators and Private Guards Act.

"By repealing these acts we are doing our part to streamline and simplify the province's laws," said Justice Minister Ross Landry.

Mr. Landry will also introduce legislation to correct a minor typographical error in the Civil Forfeiture Act. A reference in the act points to an incorrect section number.
