Another case is being added to Nova Scotia's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program today, Dec. 9.

The Department of Justice is offering a cash reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the murder of Donald Chad Smith.

On Oct. 23, 2010, at 9:26 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a shooting at 15 Joseph Young St., Dartmouth. Officers discovered Donald Chad Smith, a driver for a local pizza shop, had been shot.

"Halifax Regional Police and the Department of Justice urge anyone with any information related to Mr. Smith's murder to please come forward," said Justice Minister Ross Landry. "We all share a responsibility in terms of building safe communities and no information is too trivial."

Anyone with information can call the Department of Justice, Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, toll-free at 1-888-710-9090.

Those who come forward will be expected to provide their name and contact information. They may be called to testify in court. All calls to the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program are recorded.

More information on this and other cases can be found at www.gov.ns.ca/just .

The Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program was launched in October 2006 as another tool for law enforcement to use in solving crime. There are now 64 cases in the program.
