Museum Welcomes Animals of the Rainforest

Communities, Culture and Heritage (Jan. 2011 - Aug. 2021)

The Museum of Natural History is welcoming some of the world's most exotic animals.

The museum is hosting the Life Under the Canopy - Animals of the Rainforest exhibit from Friday, Jan. 27 to April 22. Organized by Little Ray's Reptile Zoo in Ottawa, the exhibit will make its national touring debut in Halifax.

"We're pleased to have Little Ray's Reptile Zoo back at the museum," said David Wilson, Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage. "We received very positive feedback from our visitors during Little Ray's last exhibit, Venom, in 2010."

"This beautiful exhibit will have 10 live animal habitats displaying a variety of animals that live in the rainforest including tarantulas, snakes, tortoises, amphibians and common marmoset monkeys, one of the world's smallest primates," said Paul Goulet, owner of Little Ray's Reptile Zoo.

Little Ray's Reptile Zoo staff will lead educational programs and daily interactive sessions with the animals. The museum will also offer interpretive programs on weekdays and weekends.

Little Ray's Reptile Zoo follows the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums guidelines for animal care and public safety.
